Mary C. Russell is a genre director, cinematographer, and writer. Originally from the Bay Area, she grew up differently than the typical American girl, moving to Singapore at ten and living as an expatriate for several years.

Mary directed, wrote, and produced the horror slasher short film, “Carved,” which was shown at the NewFilmmakers LA Film Festival. Inspired by the 1971 film “Vanishing Point” and Tarantino’s “Death Proof,” it was screened at the Days of the Dead: Los Angeles convention with Etheria Film Night. "Carved" was later acquired by Shudder. Her short film "Crone" was included in an anthology feature film, "Give Me an A," in response to the overturning of Roe v Wade, and released by XYZ Films.

Her feature film directorial debut, The Otherkind, is a psychological supernatural thriller set for a 2025 release.
