Sadie, the wife of a hardworking farmer named Forrest, feels an overwhelming sense of isolation on their sprawling property, which stretches endlessly in all directions. The vastness of the land, with its fields of crops and distant tree lines, amplifies her loneliness, making her feel as if she is adrift in a sea of solitude. The only company she has is her husband, Forrest, who, despite sharing a home with her, feels more like a distant acquaintance than a loving partner. Their conversations are often minimal, revolving around the day's chores or the weather, leaving Sadie yearning for deeper connection and understanding. As the days turn into weeks, she finds herself increasingly trapped in a life that feels monotonous and unfulfilling, with little hope for change.

One day, a wild dog begins to wander onto their property, drawn perhaps by the scent of livestock or the promise of scraps. At first, Forrest is wary of the animal, expressing his concerns about its potential dangers and urging Sadie to keep her distance. However, Sadie's heart is drawn to the creature, sensing a kindred spirit in its wildness and freedom. When dawn breaks, Sadie returns to the farmhouse, her heart heavy with dread. To her horror, she discovers that the wild dog, in a fit of primal instinct, has brutally mauled her husband to death. The sight is overwhelming, a nightmarish culmination of her fractured life, leaving her to grapple with guilt, grief, and the haunting question of whether her bond with the dog was a blessing or a curse.
